Bae Yong Joon, avid reader 'Kami no Shizuku (Les Gouttes de Dieu)'

Bae Yong Joon is said to be an avid reader of 'Kami no Shizuku (Les Gouttes de Dieu)' and is interested in wine and wine production.

In a recently published interview with CEO Sohn Il Hyung of IMX, Bae Yong Joon's agency of Japan, he noted that Bae Yong Joon has a special interest in wine.

When Bae Yong Joon visited Japan on the 8th, he took four bottles of wine to where Bae Yong Joon was staying and discussed the origins of the wine, and that Bae Yong Joon has a great understanding of the winery process.

CEO Sohn Il Hyung says he does not drink too much but has become an avid wine taster because of Bae Yong Joon.

Last year, IMX also offered 1972 Colheita wine from Portugal to commemorate Bae Yong Joon's birthday.

An interview with Bae Yong Joon was also published in the recent manga magazine publishing 'Kami no Shizuku' where he says, "I do not usually read manga but I read all of 'Kami no Shizuku. I also do not like drinking too much but am greatly enjoying wine. I have wanted to try the wine that appears in the series but they are rather hard to find. As each wine has a story of its own like a movie, I truly think wine could have been a present of god."

He concluded the interview saying, "I am only an avid reader right now, but I subtly hope that one day I can work with the series in any way. I will support the original creators looking forward to many more moving episodes."

'Kami no Shizuku' is a manga series by Agi Tadashi and Okimoto Shuu about wine and has gathered much popularity in Korea as well.

Spotlight Of Attention On Bae Yong Joon's Appearance In Japanese Version Of "Hotelier"

As if to reflect the popularity of Korean top star Bae Yong Joon, all the various Japanese sports papers, such as the Daily Sports, Sports Nippon, Sports Hochi, and Nikkan Sports, treated the news about Bae Yong Joon's special pro bono appearance in the Japanese version of the drama "Hotelier" with great interest.

On location for the Japanese "Hotelier" in the Lotte Hotel in Seogong-dong, Seoul, Japanese idol Ueto Aya reunited with Bae Yong Joon. They first met three years ago in 2004 for the Japanese commercial for "Oronamin," a health beverage.

Bae Yong Joon and Ueto seemed to look peaceful as they taught each other proper pronunciations for Korean and Japanese. Especially, Bae Yong Joon was seen to be checking the monitor even in the scenes where he does not appear, and seemed serious about the filming as he asked the Japanese staff many times about his pronunciation.

As soon as the filming was over in the late hours of the night, Bae Yong Joon said "Shall we shoot one more scene?" as a joke, shook hands with all the staff members, and told them good job. When Bae Yong Joon was leaving the hotel after the filming ended, there were about 300 Japanese fans shouting encouragement to him in the lobby. In the midst of them, there was even a fan who shed tears after being so moved.

Ueto said, " I was going to give wooden clogs to him, but considering Bae Yong Joon's image, I gave him an original wine bottle opener and a letter as a gift. Meeting Bae Yong Joon again after three years makes me remember the first time I saw him and how I felt like I was drawn into his eyes."

For Bae Yong Joon who gifted Ueto with a necklace, he said that "she became more mature, and I felt that she also matured as an individual. She gave an unchangingly brilliant and superb performance."

He went on to say that he was "fatigued from the filming of the drama, but after seeing Ueto's bright figure, he felt his fatigue disappear." When asked about his weight loses for the filming of the drama "The Legend," he smiled and said, "there were people who said that I look cooler when I'm thin, but there were others who asked if I was okay and worried about me."

"It feels like an honor for a Korean drama to become a remake in Japanese, since this is the first time that it happened. I think that partaking in this drama will be a precious memory to me," revealed Bae Yong Joon. In the Japanese version, he will have the same role as in the original drama, as the character Shin Dong Hyuk, and will show the main character, Ueto, the way of becoming a true hotelier.

He will appear from the first episode, and is planned to appear in several episodes afterwards, so he is expected to receive much attention and interest from the fans.

The Japanese version of "Hotelier" that will feature Ueto Aya is planned to air on the 19th through Asahi TV every Thursday. Bae Yong Joon will appear before the viewers again in the drama "The Legend," five years since the 2002 "Winter Sonata."
