Evening encounter with J-pod plus K21 & K40! July 2nd, 2010.

Here are a few images from this evenings incredible encounter with J-pod and K21 & K40!

We headed out on a perfect summers evening and encountered members of J-pod with K21 & K40 off San Juan Island:) The Orcas were being very active with multiple breaches, cartwheels and tailslaps observed. We managed to i.d. several Orcas including J1 "Ruffles", J26 "Mike", his brother J33 "Keet" & sister "Alki" alog with their mother J16 "Slick" with her 3 year old J42. We also saw K21 "Cappuccino" K40 "Ragggedy" who have been hanging out with J-pod for a few weeks.

On our way home we were treated another stunning sunset, the perfect end to a wonderful evening encounter:)

L-pod & Gray Whale for Canada Day! July 1st, 2010.

What a way to celebrate Canada Day, with encounters with members of L-pod including L41 "Mega", plus a Gray Whale in Oak Bay!

We arrived on scene near Pile Point this afternoon and soon i.d. several members of L-pod including L41 "Mega", L89 "Solstice" L85 "Mystery", L22 "Spirit", and L94 "Calypso" with her first every calf L113:)

On our way home we stopped in at Oak Bay and once again encountered the Gray Whale that has been hanging around Victoria for the past 2 weeks!
