My Visit to the Succarra Showroom

One question. Do you LOVE jewelry?? 

Ever since the GOLD trend hit, I've been purchasing gold pieces left & right. My jewelry drawer is going to need to be larger, I swear! 

So....the other day I was invited to the SUCCARRA showroom here in NYC to get a peek at all these wonderful hot jewelry designers! They had a ton of jewelry displayed & some delicious mini CUPCAKES to eat! As for the pieces....Well, I added a HEART to each photo pointing to my absolute fave ones from the showroom!  I'll be highlighting those companies in the weeks to come...along with some other pretties that will be joining the MadeByGirl accessories section! Can't wait!

Voz Bangles

Do you wear wooden bangles?? 

I thought about that question today & realized I've NEVER... EVER worn wooden bangles, but after coming across VOZ - I'm now thinking twice. The bangles at VOZ are all hand-painted & you can also order custom colors! Neat right?? They're quite on trend too with neons & pastels to accentuate any wardrobe! 


My favorites are the seafoam colored ones & the coral.

Holst + Lee Debut Collection...

Holst + Lee is a New York City based company - lead by 2 talented girls who make the most colorful collection of jewelry I've seen.  Today I'm highlighting their debut collection......this stuff is HOT out of the oven & just in time for Spring!!  I've already chosen my favorite below, but I really just LOVE all of them, don't you? 

Well, this type of jewelry may not be for everyone, only for those who dare to wear bold & colorful pieces...

With so many interesting jewelry out there, my favorite accessory remains the same: The Bracelet. 

I love all kinds - I have a bunch of them waiting to be put away in my new wardrobe (arriving next week)!! Some of my newest arm candy include this set from Sisco + Berluti. Each bracelet is handmade from bone and are individually carved with precision. 

They're gorgeous! I especially love the all GOLD skull piece! The bracelets retail for about $88 each & you'll find a ton of different colors & styles via their shop.

New Year's Eve 'no-so-bling' Jewelry...

We all know NYE is around the corner...that means fancy dresses, suit & ties and bling, bling jewelry. However, if you're not into the whole New Year's Eve BLING - then perhaps you'll appreciate this post. I pulled together 7 pieces of jewelry that will STILL be stand- out pieces at any party! 

My favorite is #1 - which is from the new Kelly Wearstler collection. I wore mine for the first time this past weekend & got quite a few compliments. 


At first, my guy didn't know what make of it...in fact his exact words were, "I can make that with a piece of wire & a dowel."  I couldn't stop laughing & told him, "yea, but it won't be Kelly Wearstler." Ha!

DIY: Statement Necklace..

Hello Made By Girl readers! I'm Jenny May from the Swede Records.  
I'm so honored to be on Jen's team! I really do hope you enjoy my DIY creations & that they inspire you to try something new for yourself. 

For my first project, I decided to recreate this statement necklace that I found on Pinterest.  My jaw just about dropped to the floor when I saw this beauty.  I could not for the life of me find the necklace to purchase anywhere so I decided to give making one on my own a go... 

First, gather your teardrop pendants (I found mine at an antique store for $25).  The middle pendant should be bigger than the rest.

Be sure to test out different nail polish colors to find your desired color palette.

Start off by painting several coats of nail polish on each pendant but only paint one side of the crystals. 

Let the pendants dry, then add a clear top coat for chip protection. 

 

Next, securely place one gold brass ring in each small opening on the pendants.  
 

Finally, position and set each pendant on the gold chain.  I left about an inch of space between each crystal.  The side of the crystal that is not painted should be facing outward as the color shines through beautifully. 
 

Et voila! I was so happy with the end result.  It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought and it only took a little over an hour! 

Pair this necklace with a black dress and stilettos and you got yourself the perfect statement necklace for the Holidays!

For the first time ever....Made By Girl is carrying something other than artwork! I'm so excited to announce that we now have bFrend bracelets - all handmade by artist Monika Hibbs!
